Annual Philanthropic Campaign is Built Around MOD’s Belief in the Power of Generosity and Gratitude
SEATTLE, Wash. (NOVEMBER 17, 2015) – To celebrate MOD Pizza’s seventh birthday and the Thanksgiving holiday, over 2,000 MOD Squad team members across the country are joining forces with their local communities to give back during Spreading MODness 2015. The campaign, and MOD Pizza’s entire approach to business, is inspired by their commitment to be a force for good, using moments of generosity and gratitude to make positive impacts.
Beginning Tuesday, November 24th through Sunday, November 29th, MOD Pizza will donate $1.00 from every pizza sold to local charities, which have been handpicked by the 88 different MOD Squad teams throughout the country. In addition, Black Friday, MOD-style, will provide customers the opportunity to “add a buck” and give back on a day that is traditionally focused on spending. The Spreading MODness campaign will donate funds to each of these worthy organizations, while using the in-store platform to help raise awareness and support of each non-profit.
“We have grown this business with the intention to impact as many lives as possible. To do this, we start with our MOD Squad and encourage them to make a difference, both in our stores and within their communities. Our Squads are very motivated by this purpose beyond pizza, and the chance to “Spread MODness” which we define as the ripple effect of simply doing the right thing,” said Ally Svenson, co-founder of MOD Pizza. “We are proud to once again partner with such an inspiring group of local organizations to not only support their amazing efforts, but to promote generosity – one of MOD’s core values.”
Since opening the first MOD Pizza in 2008, the company has focused on putting its employees at the forefront of the business. Scott Svenson, MOD Pizza co-founder and CEO added: “A key driver of MOD’s explosive growth has been watching the team embrace our strong sense of purpose. It is important to us that each MOD Squad understands their potential to be a force for good, and our Spreading MODness campaign helps provide a platform to do so. This campaign may be annual, but we’ve found that the spirit of helping others has become ingrained in our company and continues all year long.”
MOD is on track to open another 100 stores next year, employing over 5,000 people by the end of 2016.
