Edition #6: MODs helping MODs
For the People of MOD
It all started five years ago when the MOD Squad from Store #7 in Sammamish, Washington pooled the funds necessary to surprise and replace a fellow Squad member’s stolen bike — his only mode of transportation to work. When we found out that MODs were helping MODs in times of crisis, we got to work and created the Bridge Fund*. Fueled by MODs through voluntary payroll deductions and generous donations, the fund has provided more than one million dollars in relief to squad members since 2015.
The fund serves as a symbol of MOD’s culture of service and generosity and is an inspiring reminder that MOD is truly being built BY the people of MOD, FOR the people of MOD.

“On Valentine’s Day of this year, I suddenly lost my husband of 9 years. We are a young family with a 5-year-old daughter and didn’t have any savings. I cried when I saw that I could be able to take care of the bills and take time to grieve. I don’t have the words to express my gratitude to what an impact it had, and still has, on my life. The Bridge Fund showed me that a company can truly care about its people and that we’re more than employees. We’re family. It’s important because you never know what can happen in a day, just like my life was forever changed one day. It could be you.”

“I would have lost my housing and so much more….but now I donate $7 dollars (my lucky number) each check to give back to the next person who needs help. It makes me feel good to know I will be helping someone else.”

“I was homeless, and squad relief helped me secure housing. It made me realize that this company is unlike any other. I love working for MOD because they let me be myself and they make me feel like I’m a part of something bigger. The Bridge Fund is important because it helps you when you have no other resources. It pulls you out of that fear of being helpless.”

“My daughter needed heart surgery when she was 4 months old. It’s amazing to know there are people out there that care so much and are willing to help, and we felt so blessed to know that we would be able to be there for our daughter. Working for a company that has a fund like this makes you feel a part of something bigger and more like family, and that’s very important.”
